Baths
Bathrooms can be a chaotic place in the morning and serene place in the evening. It takes a lot of planning to meet both situations. Here are some ideas to keep in mind as you work with your designer.
- Find a comfortable connection between the bedroom and bathroom. Even if the original space was not designed as a “master suite”, when you remodel you may be able to create the concept.
- The bathroom should be an extension of the bedroom. Be mindful of what you see from one room into the other (the door is usually left open!).
- Make your bathroom a room. Sounds obvious, but what you want to do is organize different functional areas around a central space.
- Designate spaces for specific functions. For instance, if a fixture is unusual or artistic, give it a little extra space to show it off.
- Use compatible fixtures and materials. Your designer will help you choose styles and colors that are consistent and complement your home.
- Keep it in proper proportion. The bathroom should be a pleasant space, but not be the biggest room of the house!
